Dr. Gene Fitch, Jr.
Vice President for Student Affairs

When I came to UT Dallas in the spring of 2010 as Dean of Students, the University was celebrating a record-breaking enrollment of 15,800 students. Fast forward to the 2021-22 academic year, we saw our student body surpass 30,000. With the remarkable growth of our campus comes a unique opportunity to grow the impact of the Division of Student Affairs. To that end, I’m happy to share with you—our alumni, friends and partners—our inaugural impact report, outlining our ’21-’22 achievements and providing a glimpse of what’s on the horizon for Student Affairs.

This report focuses on six areas in our division that I have identified as strategic priorities:

  • Center for Students in Recovery
  • Esports
  • Intercollegiate Athletics
  • Military and Veteran Center
  • Student Counseling Center
  • Student Emergency Financial Assistance Fund

Our division’s motto is “You Belong Here.” We approach each day with the mindset of making UT Dallas a place in which our students feel a sense of connection and belonging. This report showcases just a few of the many ways we’re putting our words into action. I look forward to our next chapter and hope you’ll support the life-changing work we do in Student Affairs.
